  June 18th. 2022 I have been waiting all my life for this. I couldn't have picked a better day to March on this day than this. This is a continuation of my last blog. The decision of the 5 to 4 Roe vs Wade decision was made in January of 1973. I was a teenager, restless and easily distracted, and was aware of the decision, but felt at the time a topic unrelated to my day to day life... ...as long as I minded my p's and q's... ..which I  did. In the later years, abortion became a very hot topic. Anti-abortion protests erupted. Abortion doctors were murdered and death threats to healthcare providers were prevalent.  Even if l felt sad or angry of a child being yanked away from natural life l failed to realize at the time the dire and devastating consequnce of an unwanted pregnancies that women face. This is going to be a long, but necessary debate, but without unnecessary rebuttals. My first observation is that the "pro-lifers" are elated over the decision by the Supreme Court. Their religious valuing of life is well-meaning but but misguided and dangerous. While this debate rages on, women across America are dying. Lack of access to natal care will become more prominent if we don't reach out to these targeted communities, often in rural, small town and Indigenous communities. The decision to turn down Row will have far-reaching consequences: the disappearance of pre-natal and post-natal care facilities in rural and remote communities. This was an old essay l wrote about a year and a half ago. Still today racial injustices occur a on a daily basis, often unreported.. [Okay, for the last 16 weeks since the death of Breonna Taylor, the black community throughout the U.S. has been put on edge. Widespread discussion has been on PTSD, especially on war veterans. What about those witnessing police brutality and especially those who survived beatings? Post Traumatic Race Discrimination Stress Syndrome (PTRDSS) is a reality. Children watching Ahmaud Arbery getting ruthlessly shot to death without cause will be having to go through therapy for years, perhaps for the rest of their life. Parents don't know what to do.
