The morning is fair With September bluish grey Eastern haze calling  A  spiritual awakening  Pow wows and storytelling  Beauty of the earth Of ancestors They whispered songs Loudly chanted Voices never to be silenced  Our land will return The conquerors  Have laid to rest  The Earth Will Green again An awakening has risen The Eagle has flown Out of the dollar bill Sending us news Of liberation From the prison Of corporate ideology

A Democrat sides with Republicans on this Topic

T his is reprehensible!  https://www.advocate.com/politics/2021/3/18/democratic-politician-architect-south-carolina-anti-trans-bill I am aware that some who read this may disagree with the issue of trans girls (or trans boys) playing in women's or girls' sports. I fully acknowledge that some of those who don't feel that transgender kids playing with girls is appropriate. First of all my question is, what context of sports are they addressing? We - l mean boys and girls - played kickball during recess while l was in elementary school. Ditto dodgeball. How far do these anti-trans legislators want to go? Do they want to separate the boys and girls during recess time, leaving trans kids out? Do you see how unnecessary (and unrealistically ridiculous) this legislation is? The aim of these legislations is based on politics. Far-right legislators in some states want to bring back conversion therapy, which l believe is facist and unbiblical, to protect children from a "sin

TO THE "PRO-LIFERS"

I'm not pro-murdering babies. I'm pro-Becky who found out at her 20 week anatomy scan that the infant she had been so excited to bring into this world had developed without life sustaining organs. I'm pro-Susan who was sexually assaulted on her way home from work, only to come to the horrific realization that her assailant planted his seed in her when she got a positive pregnancy test result a month later. I'm pro-Theresa who hemorrhaged due to a placental abruption, causing her parents, spouse, and children to have to make the impossible decision on whether to save her or her unborn child. I'm pro-little Cathy who had her innocence ripped away from her by someone she should have been able to trust and her 11 year old body isn't mature enough to bear the consequence of that betrayal. I'm pro-Melissa who's working two jobs just to make ends meet and has to choose between bringing another child into poverty or feeding the children she already has bec

Perhaps?

I would indeed hope that in light of the Uvalde shooting that immediate action would be taken. The Federal government cannot tackle this gun violence problem alone. It's going to take everbody, from voters, to city, municiple, county, and state officials to enact a plan to boost security in our schools. This is a dire emergency. We must act fast, but local communities in remote areas need Federal assistance. This is an idea that I brainstormed and then l created a scripted scene: STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS JULY 20th, 2022 From the White House briefing: President Biden announces nationwide vigil for mass shootings; enlists congressional submitee to structure a plan to demand all public schools have security lock systems, bulletproof windows and security checkpoints. A tidbit of this imagined conversation: "As l have stepped up to the podium to address this gut-wrenching challenge of facing our nation's worst epidemic, gun violence, l first of all, plead Americans to t

From Global Warming to Global Overheating

In light of yesterday's heatwave, on July 19, 2022, which was devastating, people who question global warming may really need to redress their reasoning. In England and across Europe temperatutes reached unprecedented levels. The death toll in Great Britain was over 1,500 causualties as a result of temperatures climbed above 104°. Across portions of the South, into the Midwest temperatures were in the triple digits. 112° was reported in Little Rock, Arkansas. Scientists say that the U.S. is expected to experience these summer mega-heatwaves more frequently. I won't forget the heatwave here in Georgia in 2012. It official temperature broke the 1980 record of 105° by a degree. I worked as bike security, monitoring vehicles on a parking deck at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta. I worked the top deck which was outdoors, exposed to the hot sun. Our supervisor gave us stern warnings regarding the heat and staff members were to hunker down in air-conditioned offices between twi

ROBERT STEWART

I first met Robert back in the spring of 1999. I had attended several bi-nature support groups with Barry and Sherry who co-facilitated at the First E building in the fall of 1998. Both were UU followers who strongly encouraged me to attend a Sunday Celebration of Life. I was a member of an LGBT affirming Christian Church and while l was curious, l had mixed feelings about attending a non-Christian church. Upon entering the building, guess who was the first to greet me? Robert. Then later Betsy Henderson and Cindy Lou Who greeted me with that wholesome handshake. Robert facilitated countless COL's, sent e-blasts for last-minute announcements; tirelessly sent "First Existentialist This Sunday" and " First Existentialist This Past Sunday", EVERY WEEK without skipping a beat. I felt at home hearing that smooth, calming Southern drawl from his mid-Alabama roots. Robert came from a Baptist upbringing, was a left-leaning Republican (not many of those around) who had a
